How to clean suede shoes Luisa Toledo

With daily use or in the different events that we like to wear our suede shoes, it is possible that no matter how careful we are, our stilettos and in general any shoes made in suede can stain. So that we can enjoy our Luisa Toledo as new for much longer, we will share with you some tips to clean the different spots that may appear on our suede shoes.

Suede footwear cleaning

The first advice we should take into account, is to clean our Luisa Toledo heels every time we have used them. It may be that they are apparently not dirty, or that there is no stain to the naked eye, but we consider it best to clean them after each use to make sure they are always in perfect condition.

For this "daily maintenance", it is sufficient to clean both inside and outside with a microfiber cloth (this detail is very important, so that no debris remains) slightly moistened simply with water, rubbing the suede in the same direction of the tissue of the suede. In this way, on the outside we will be eliminating any remaining dust and dirt, however minimal. Also, for the internal part of our shoe, with the same cloth once rinsed, proceeding in this way we will eliminate any sweat or dirt that may exist inside the shoe. This simple process should not take more than 5 minutes with each shoe and guarantees us to have them in prefect condition the next time we use them.

Finally, let your shoes dry at room temperature, without any source of direct heat such as heating or dryers, and of course, never expose them to sunlight directly. Another important aspect when it comes to storage is to do it in its original packaging, putting the paper fillings in the toes and using the braces (or sticks) so that your shoes keep their shape.

And choosing a quality shoe is important, but so is the maintenance we give you, since these details will lengthen your life and make them as beautiful as the first day.

A stain on my suede shoes, what do I do?

If our suede leather shoes have been stained, the first and most important thing is to identify what the stain is: it can be from a simple rubbing, to that liquid has fallen on our shoes or even some grease or dirt stain more embedded.

After identifying the stain, it is important to know that there are different ways to proceed. Cleaning suede shoes can be a delicate task, but with the right tricks can become a simpler task to achieve a perfect finish.

If there is dirt and dust accumulated, what we should do to clean suede shoes is to use a soft bristle brush to remove dirt. To do this, the surface of the shoe must be brushed in different ways until the accumulated dust is removed, once cleaned, "comb" the suede of the shoe in the same direction to achieve a perfect finish. If we stain suede shoes with mud, it is better to wait until it dries and then remove it with this same brush.

In case still the stains persist, another option is to use a rough surface rubber, passing through the strongest spots as if we were trying to erase the surface.

Grease stains on my suede shoes, how do I get rid of them?

In the case of recent grease spots and as long as these have not been absorbed by the tissue, it is advisable to use talcum powder to absorb this excess fat. Next, if the grease stain persists or is a long-lasting grease stain, we can use a soft bristle brush moistened in a mixture of water and ammonia. We use it by rubbing the surface little by little, very softly and in the sense of the "little hair" of the suede. Depending on whether it is a light or dark colored suede, we can see the results immediately or we will have to wait for the shoe to dry to make sure that the spots have been removed.

The dirt and stains persist in my suede shoes, how can I recover them?

If you have already tried everything to make your suede shoes look like the first day, but some spots still persist, here are some infallible tricks that experts use in this type of material.

Another way to remove stains on our suede shoes is with a sponge moistened with water and detergent soap. Rub all over the shoe to achieve a uniform finish and let it dry at room temperature, never with a direct heat source or sun. Once our stilettos are dry, we can brush them with a soft bristle brush to give that characteristic peach skin finish.

If they are encysted spots, such as gum, candy or glue, a very easy way to eliminate them is with a nail file. On this occasion we must proceed with great care so as not to damage the leather, because the suede is a sensitive material. Simply use the nail file passing it in very small circles where the cystic spot is found. Check every little bit if it is taking effect and remove the dirt with your hand or blowing, to prevent them from becoming encrusted again.

If unfortunately, none of these tricks works for you to recover your shoes, you can go to special products to treat the cleaning of suede shoes. You should know, that being chemical products, little by little they are making a dent in the original color and texture of our suede shoes, so from Luisa Toledo we recommend that you use them only in the most extreme cases and always, sticking 100% to the manufacturer's instructions.
